The Toronto Blue Jays have signed former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Anthony Santander to a five-year, $92.5 million contract with, as reported by MLB insider Jon Morosi.

Per The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the deal includes an opt-out clause after the third year. If the Blue Jays exercise their team option in 2029, the contract could extend to six years and $110 million.

Santander’s coming off a career-year in Baltimore, earning his first All-Star nod and Silver Slugger award after hitting a career-high 44 home runs and 102 RBIs. The power-hitting outfielder is projected to bat cleanup behind the likes of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.

Santander becomes the third-largest free agent signing in the Ross Atkins era, trailing behind Kevin Gausman’s five-year, $110 million contract and George Springer’s six-year, $150 million deal.

For the Blue Jays, Santander is their first significant signing in recent years after failing to acquire Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto, and Roki Sasaki, being finalists for all three.

Toronto has stayed busy this offseason with the acquisitions of Gold Glove infielder Andrés Giménez and right-handed pitcher Trevor Hoffman.

The Blue Jays hope to improve from their last-place finish in the American League East in 2025.
